I'm going to a conference outside Salt Lake City and will be spending 10 days of vacation afterwards. On the program we have the beautiful Sun Tunnels made by Nancy Holt, who sadly recently passed away (Feb 8th). We will make sure to send her some thoughts when standing in the middle of the Utah dessert at looking at her magnificent work.
For planning the trip we have been using Roadtrippers - an easy and userfriendly interface. For now this is how our trip looks like:

A small trip to Milan with a dear friend can definitely be recommended! Even though it was a bit chilly and was raining some days, we also had sun and could really enjoy the never-had-better pistacchio icecream! We had booked seats for Teatro alla Scala to see L'Histoire de Manon. It was really good, bu we were so happy that the two other seats in our cubicle were not taken otherwise we would not have been able to see anyhting! Pre-booked tickets to The Last Supper by DaVinci ia also a must!
Germany

A colleague and I attended a user-meeting in Heidelberg and decided to continue to Munich to visit at former colleague now working at the Heimholtz Centrum. After the science tour was done we visited the city and was impressed by all the overwhelming buildings.
Of course we enjoyed some proper german food and local beers.
