I'm a Danish girl born in the beautiful year of 1984 (I hope you have read George Orwell's book - otherwise I strongly recommend you doing so!). In 2011 I started as a PhD student within the field of Molecular Pharmacology after finishing my Master of Science in Pharmacy in 2010 - all at The University of Copenhagen. I did my master's thesis in the lab of Prof. Jean-Philippe Pin at The Institute of Functional Genomics in Montpellier, France.
I was born in Copenhagen, but grew up in the country side in the south of Sealand as well as one year in York, UK. From York I have some fond memories even though it was a strange thing to all of a sudden having to speak another language and obeying (weird) English school rules, like no parent allowed on school grounds. I think it was even weirder for my younger brother, especially when his older sister forbid him to visit her in the breaks because she otherwise would start crying! Haha...what a sweet sister!
This year, 2014, I will be finishing my PhD! What happens in the future...well I guess time will show.
Strengths:
1) Network - it us through my relationships with others I create results.
2) Communicate - I am always looking to communicate information thoroughly and accurately. I like to teach but also communicating, both written and orally, with colleagues etc.
3) Contribute - I you love to help and support others. I often feel that others' well-being is my
responsibility.
Needs:
1) Honesty - I feel comfortable in a open, fair and honest atmospheres.
2) Order - I like when things are organized.
3) Recognition - I get filled with energy when others notice my achievements. Recognition from friends and colleagues can be just as important as from management.
Specialties: GPCRs, molecular biology, in vitro cell culturing, ELISA, time-resolved FRET, binding and second messenger assays including Ca2+ release. Familiar with other laboratory techniques, experimental in vitro pharmacology and computational chemistry.
I am a pharmacist and I'm proud of it! I always think of a professor that once told us a story about how medical students always were so confident and that he was sad to see pharmacists hiding in the corner.
